Afternoon Labs

Extended Day Programs/Afternoon Labs
H. 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
(October to June)
Upon registration Afternoon Labs will be possible at a later time (from 2.30 to 4.00 p.m.). A minimum number of 5 children per lab is needed. Children are provided an extra snack in the afternoon.

Labs will be paid separately and are opened also to children not attending Humpty Dumpty.  

Afternoon Labs for the School Year 2023-2024. Similar labs will be available for the School Year 2024-25.

Details will be given at the beginning of the school year.

 

Monday- African dances and Hip-Hop Classes for Children. This lab is conducted by Ms Remza & Ms. Beza, who trained in African Dances. Children will be exploring various dance style of sub-Saharan Africa and will learn the basic moves of hip-hop, a dance style based a lot on improvisation. They will develop musical rhythm and learn about culture and traditions linked to specific types of dances. They will also strengthen their muscles, develop flexibility, plasticity, coordination, and, of course, learn dance numbers! For 4 years onwards

 

Tuesday - Food lab.  In this lab - run by Mrs Diana who has a diploma in Pastry- children explore different ingredients using all five senses and will prepare various recipes. They will also learn the benefits of some food over others, and how their food choices affect the health of their bodies. This lab incorporates nutrition, math, culture, language and art, in a fun way.

 

Wednesday - Art and Craft. This lab is conducted by Mrs Diana & Ms. Mahlet. Their creative talent is amazing. Based on their experience working with small children they keep the activities simple and not too long using different kind of materials to stimulate the kids' imagination and help them to develop their manual skills. Mrs Diana & Ms. Mahlet always encourages children not to be afraid to think differently and to enjoy the process of creation as much as possible.

Thursday - Math & Science Lab. This lab is conducted by Ms. Remza & Ms. Oxana. These fun classes will promote literacy, language and vocabulary, social collaboration and critical thinking. Children will learn to explore, make hypothesis, play with numbers and have patience.

Friday - Circus for us!.  An old favourite!

Organized by Fekat Circus. Children will be doing gymnastic, juggling, balance, human pyramids, and a lot of games.  Circus trainings offer a wide range of benefits for physical and psycho-social development. Besides relaxing, improving gross and fine motor skills, circus trainings promote:

 

- Teamwork, trust and cooperation - Self esteem and confidence

- Self discipline and self motivation - Mental agility and concentration

- Logical thinking and problem solving skills - Sense of achievement, pride and perseverance.
